The winemaker Erwin Devriendt himself says: 'In 2014 we had the opportunity to purchase a particularly well-situated terroir of 0.48 hectares of vineyard with fully-grown muscats. Jérémy and I did not hesitate for a second to acquire this old vineyard and enrich our range with an exceptionally fine sweet white wine. Our first harvest was realized in 2015 and was a direct hit in finesse. The grapes were picked with care in individual boxes. The yield was deliberately kept very low and did not exceed 25hl/ha.

This first muscat was vinified in collaboration with Domaine La Pigade (a top domain in the AOP Beaumes de Venise). It was then nurtured and matured at Domaine les Ondines, where all the Clos des Frères wines are also produced. This first wine was bottled in the spring of 2017. Barely 1000 bottles of 50cl were put on the market.

Important in the design of this 100% muscat wine is its very fine elegance. No syrupy sweetness or sticky sugars in the mouth; but fine acids that give the soft sweetness of the grape a great freshness.'

This Muscat de Beaumes de Venise is a rarity and can easily tolerate several years of cellar rest.

We currently have only 60 bottles (0.5 l) of 2020 available for sale.

Wine and food

This Muscat de Beaumes de Venise is a wonderful aperitif wine, when served fresh, while it explodes with fruit desserts. Also an incredibly beautiful accompaniment to creamy blue mold cheeses or to plump dishes.
