LA FONT DES ORMES - 2018 - La Font de l'Oun - IGP Pays de Caux - AOP Pézenas-Languedoc - France

Domaine La Font des Ormes is located in Caux, in the region of Pézenas, in the Languedoc, in a special valley bordered by two basalt flows.

AOP Pézenas-Languedoc is a triangle of about 24 km on each side, pointing downwards, and bounded on the east by the Hérault River, which flows from north to south. In the north, the terroir is sheltered by the Montagne Noire and in the southwest it is an extension of Biterrois. The altitude varies between 0 and 300 m and vines can be found at all altitudes.

Font des Ormes is located in an environment of olive and pine trees, in Caux on the road to Nizas in AOC Pézenas, at the foot of two basalt flows. Their ambition is to express the full potential of this exceptional terroir.

Description

This wine offers a different vision of the terroir of Pézenas, more modern and expressive. Less about the finesse and elegance of the tannic structures of AOPs, but more spectacular in terms of aromas and more demonstrative in their youth.

Marselan 40% - Carignan 30% - Grenache noir 20% - Syrah 10%.

Wine

Harvested in small crates of 12 kg. Vinification plot by plot. Smooth extraction by short remontage. Ageing in concrete tanks. Production: 6 500 bottles.

Tasting notes

This wine is marked by its floral and fruit flavours. It tasting will mostly offer back fruits aromas with plum, blackberry, but also strawberry aromas. This is a balanced wine that will show roundness in the mouth.
