The wines of Erwin Devriendt have been one of our showpieces for years. Besides his love for Grenache, with this white Folie des Frères it is clear that he also works wonders with the Viognier grape.

Description

As befits a good Viognier, a very aromatic nose can also be found here, which immediately displays sweet, ripe impressions of yellow stone fruits such as peach and apricot, but also a light accent of orange. The fruit alternates with delicate aromas of spring blossoms, followed by a subtle herbaceous touch.

In the mouth, the intense, powerful nose is immediately confirmed and one can speak of a mouth-filling wine with a certain fatness and a broad structure where again a perfumed florality takes the upper hand. This Viognier has low but supportive acids, which ensure that the wine is nicely balanced with the other components and also offers a liveliness that is not always evident in wines based on this grape.

The finish is medium long but strong. This allows the wine to accompany dishes that are at least as savory, such as warm fish preparations with rich butter or cream sauces, grilled fish with a fatty structure in combination with tapenades or all kinds of spicy dips, but white meats such as poultry or veal can also be added to the mix. be a match. Think of meal salads with fried chicken or quail, finished with some fresh fruit (mango, peach, …) or a fruit-based coulis. Also definitely recommended with asparagus!
